What you’ll be doing: 

As a Powertrain Market Analyst, you will be a key intellectual contributor, providing frontline industry insights and supporting the formulation of core strategies. You will conduct in-depth research on the market dynamics, competitive landscape, technology roadmaps, and customer needs of China's automotive powertrain technologies, covering traditional internal combustion engines, hybrids, battery electric vehicles, fuel cells, as well as core systems such as batteries and electric drives. Through professional analysis and forward-looking forecasting, you will deliver deep market insights and decision-making support to clients. 

Market and Industry Analysis: 

  • Track and analyse the market size, growth trends, share shifts, and key drivers of China's automotive powertrain market. 
  • Conduct in-depth research on the penetration rates, policy impacts, and regional variations of new energy technology pathways (e.g., BEV, PHEV, FCEV). 
  • Analyse the technological evolution, cost structures, and supply chain landscapes of key subsystems (e.g., batteries, motors, electronic controls, engines, transmissions). 

Competitive Intelligence Research: 

  • Monitor and analyse the product strategies, technology layouts, capacity planning, and market performance of key players, including traditional OEMs, emerging automakers, technology companies, and core component suppliers in the powertrain domain. 
  • Track industry technology releases, partnership developments, patent activities, and investment trends to provide competitive insights and early warnings. 

Technology Trend Foresight: 

  • Conduct forward-looking research on next-generation powertrain technologies (e.g., 800V high-voltage platforms, silicon carbide applications, ultra-fast charging, solid-state batteries, hydrogen energy, synthetic fuels), evaluating their development pathways, commercialization prospects, and industry impacts. 

Reporting and Client Support: 

  • Independently produce high-quality market analysis reports, thematic research briefs, and predictive model outputs. 
  • Establish and maintain a powertrain market database, continuously refining analytical frameworks and forecasting tools. 
  • Present research findings, insights, and market outlooks clearly to clients through online or in-person meetings. 

What we’re looking for: 

Educational Background: 

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Energy and Power Engineering, or related fields; candidates with a combined background in Economics or Finance are preferred. 

Work Experience: 

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in the automotive industry, with at least 2 years focused on market analysis, industry research, competitive intelligence, or strategic planning in powertrain, new energy three-electric systems, or related fields. 
  • Prior experience in consulting firms, renowned automotive companies (product planning/market research departments), or core component suppliers is preferred. 

Knowledge and Skills: 

  • Familiarity with new energy vehicles and key powertrain technologies, including performance metrics, industry terminology, and technology trends.
  • Proficiency in market research methodologies, with strong capabilities in data collection, processing, analysis, and visualization. 
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with Power BI, Python, SQL, or other data analysis tools is a plus. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Chinese and English, with the ability to independently produce professional reports and deliver clear presentations. 
  • Strong information retrieval and synthesis skills, with high sensitivity to industry dynamics. 
  • A critical mindset and the ability to assess the true impact of technical developments and claimed advances, cutting through market hype to deliver grounded insights—particularly crucial in fast-evolving areas like battery technology. 
  • The ability to work within a global context, supporting analysis for other key regions as Chinese OEMs expand internationally. A global market perspective is increasingly essential.
